How to use the Discount Calculator

How discount maths works

A percentage discount reduces the price by that percentage of the original: Savings = Price × Discount ÷ 100, and you pay the rest. A ₹2,999 jacket at 30% off saves you ₹899.70 — final price ₹2,099.30.

Stacked discounts are not additive. “30% off, then an extra 10%” means you pay 70% × 90% = 63% of the original — a 37% total discount, not 40%. Sellers know most shoppers add the percentages; now you know better.

Shopping tricks worth knowing

“Buy 2 get 1 free” is a 33.3% discount per item, while “50% off the second item” is only 25% off the pair.

A flat ₹500 voucher beats a 10% code only when your cart is below ₹5,000 — above that, the percentage code wins. Quick check: 10% of your cart vs ₹500, whichever is bigger.

Discounts off inflated MRPs are theatre; only the final price at checkout matters. Compare final prices across stores, not the percentage signs.

Multiply the price by the discount percentage and subtract: for 25% off ₹1,200, the discount is ₹300 and you pay ₹900. Or multiply the price by 0.75 directly.
